Your solo for video and live auditions. These 1-2 minutes of choreography are required by many colleges, universities and conservatory programs, and are intended to showcase your personality and style. Sometimes dancers are required to choreograph solos themselves.
A well-organized dance resume. This document, generally 1 page in length, includes training background, performance and choreography experience, recognitions, and special skills. Some schools require their applicants to follow a specific format.
Well-written essays. Your personal statements should express your viewpoints as an artist and human being. They should highlight your personal strengths and an applicant, and how these strengths fit into a specific program. They should not, however, list awards or recap your first dance recital.
A strong dance reel. This video compilation includes short clips and excerpts from performances and class work, showcasing you talents and/or versatility as an applicant.
